Select four people currently in the media and discuss their exertion of one of the sources of power. Students must cover all four of the sources of power discussed in your textbook. Apply only one source of power to each of the four people selected.

Power is the ability to yield desired outcomes or influence the conduct of another person. It is a capability to dominate the behavior of another person. Almost all great and famous leader has transformed this world by utilizing power. Leaders like Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Henry Ford, Steve Jobs, etc. had strong visions of the future. They were able to transform their visions into reality because they had acquired and used the necessary power to do so. These successful leaders are capable of using certain sources of power to make a difference. Some of these sources of power are discussed below;
Informational Power: Informational power is the power of possessing some unique useful information that no else possess. In this source of power, information is used to generate some hypothesis, analysis or statistics to influence the opinions or decision-making process. Information power is often used to evaluate the effectiveness of organizational processes or strategies.
E:g Julian Assange a computer programmer who founded WikiLeaks, a website intended to share secret information and news leaks on an international scale. He gained international prominence after the site published controversial documents and footage from the War in Afghanistan.
Personal Power – Personal power is the influence capacity a leader gets from being seen by followers as knowledgeable, or likable. The main strength of personal power is that it is based on the leader’s intentions and integrity. It is based on the leader’s authenticity. Personal power leaders are person-centered. They focus on the people around them understanding that successful outcomes lie within these relationships, not in instructions, tasks, and orders. Personal power leaders achieve authenticity through knowing their own strengths and weaknesses, and those of their team members.
E:g Bill gates American business magnate, philanthropist, and humanitarian. His leadership encouraged hard work, ethics, consideration for others and determination. He used these qualities to develop emotional intelligence and do humanitarian through his foundation “GatesFoundation”
Position Based Power – Position based power is the utilization of authority to influence others and get things done in the desired manner. Such power gets associated with a person because of their position/ hierarchy in organization/society. Some of the ways this power is acquired are an election, appointments, or by cultural values. This power is often misused due to the lack of social and personal skills in the person.
E:g Elon Musk chairman and CEO of Tesla Motor Company. He uses his power to influence individuals and organizations, even governments. He is also trying to change the behaviors and attitudes of innovators, engineers, and investors to change their perception of space travel
Contextual Power:- Contextual sources of power come from the ability to understand the surrounding ecology/environment in which negotiation takes place. Contextual sources of power include the availability of BATNAs, culture, constituencies, and external audiences.

Based on market trend Consumers can buy all the latest products online on this retail platform. the consumer can access the site online or through an app on their mobile phones.
