For Milestone One, you will prepare and submit a report modifying the provided Javascript code to display a new message to the employees when they open their web browser. This will inform them about the operating system upgrade. In your report, describe five components of code, indicating their role in programming. Identify the specific code to be changed, modify it, and describe the changes, supported by screenshots.

 

The employees will have their computers upgraded in groups so that all computers are not offline at the same time. Each group will have a date when their upgrade will begin. The groups and their corresponding upgrade dates are as follows:

 

Group 1: January 12, 2015

Group 2: January 14, 2015

Group 3: January 19, 2015

Group 4, January 21, 2015

Group 5, January 26, 2015

 

For this assignment, you are to take the following code and run it in the script executer found at http://www.compileonline.com/try_javascript_online.php.

 

You will type the provided code into the editor. Be sure to focus on syntax, and make sure you have no errors. Once you enter the code, modify the date that the code is counting down to for each of the five group dates for the upgrade. Take a screenshot of each result after you modify and execute the code. The rubric for this milestone is located on the third page of this document.

For Milestone Two, you will submit a network and database report based on the resources provided.

 

For the networking report, describe the network configuration, explaining the role of each component and connection, following the diagram provided by your supervisor. Write a short description of any components you think are missing from the network diagram and provide a potential rationale for why you think these components are critical to the network. Specifically, state the functions of the components and how they contribute to the network.

 

For the database report, modify the appropriate components of the provided database with the information regarding the employees’ computers and the upgrade dates. You will then run a query identifying each employee’s upgrade date. Specifically:

 

1.      Open up each table in the database to view the data and examine its formatting.  Be sure to open the database in regular and design view. Describe what each table contains and any data types that are other than text.

2.      Open the Table Upgrade Information in design view. Change the data type of the “Upgrade Date” field from “text” to “Date/Time”.

3.      Enter the appropriate date for each entry based on the entry’s group number. Do this in regular view of the table. The dates for upgrade, based on group, are listed below:

 

Group 1: January 12, 2015

Group 2: January 14, 2015

Group 3: January 19, 2015

Group 4, January 21, 2015

Group 5, January 26, 2015

 

4.      Once you have entered the dates in the appropriate column in the Table Upgrade Information, save your data and close the table. Describe the steps you took to complete this task.

5.      Open the upgrade list query in design view. Make note of the actions it is taking and how the tables are linked. Describe how the tables are linked and why you think the linking is done in this way. Then describe what data the query is pulling. Then click “Run.” Take a screenshot of the results of your query to include in your submission.

For Milestone Three, you will prepare and submit a three-slide presentation explaining information assurance needs, includingrisks associated with non-adherence to information assurance processes, and countermeasures to mitigate risks. You will also prepare two one-page tutorials. The first tutorial is for setting the company website as the homepage and the second for enabling and disabling cookies.
