As presented in the syllabus, you will write a 1 to 2 paragraph reflection essay which
answers the question(s) assigned in Beyond Feelings: A Guide To Critical Thinking. The
questions asked are open ended and require you to reflect on your own ethical thought
process. There are no “right” answers to the questions asked. Rather it is the
thoughtfulness of your answer that will make it a good one.
What are reflection essays? A reflection essay is a chance to write out some of your
thoughts about and reactions to the reading and the question(s) asked. These questions
ask you to think critically. Class discussion and Business Ethics readings may, or may not,
influence your thoughts on the question and you should share this if appropriate. Has your
thinking on any topic been challenged or changed by the readings or class discussion?
What are the underlying assumptions and arguments of the readings and do you agree or
disagree with these? What questions have not been asked and why are these questions
important? How do the observations and arguments of the readings relate to your
personal experiences? These are only suggestions to guide you as you write your answers.
This exercise is only useful if you write about what you have been pondering the most. It is
not useful if you simply regurgitate or summarize the readings—tell me what you think
and why.
While this assignment is graded as check or 0, I will be collecting the papers and reviewing
