Peer 1: Health care providers have many advantages when it comes to the care of their patients. Health care is never a narrow market but a broad one. Inside any health care provider company, everything is about providing services and making sure to extend the services to an even bigger market. There are various ways to promote health care markets such as conducting a healthcare survey through social media, offer a chance to win health care services, sharing preventive tips and education classes to patients, utilizing automated notification to fill appointment spots and using social media for cross-promotion marketing strategies (Taylor, 2014). For example, if health care providers promote their services through a social media network, they will be able to improve their services on a larger more modern spectrum. Social networks are what people look at when they need to know about certain functions such as on Twitter or Facebook. For instance, feedback from customers on an online portal to speak about what their issues are with their current services and provide a platform to allow customers to speak about how to improve their services.

Furthermore, health care providers can define the market that they wish to serve by service delivery strategies. The service delivery strategies consist of pre-service, point of service and after-service. For example, the pre-service focuses on marketing research, target market, pricing and promotion (Ginter, Duncan & Swayne, 2018, pg.351). Health care providers can utilize pre-service by looking at what catches the eye of individuals when it comes to products and what customers look for in health care that can be beneficial to them.

Peer 2: As there is competition in any business, and health care providers are always needed, however, those looking for a healthcare provider look for certain aspects in the provider they wish to choose. Due to “competition and complexity in the market, health care providers must add value to survive”(Ginter, Duncan, & Swayne, 2018, pg.354). Health care providers can define the market they want to serve by using pre-service activities which allow for a competitive advantage for the providers.”A successful quality strategy begins with an organizational culture that fosters quality, followed by an understanding of the principles of quality, and then engaging employees in the necessary activities to implement quality that leads to satisfaction from customers that results in the competitive advantage” (Heizer, 2014). Different research methods can be used for physicians to find out as to what are some of the concerns that patients have to help the provider to survive in the market. Specifically, these research methods are based on customer satisfaction. Some ways in which that physicians and health systems can work together to ensure survival from the patients include: redesigning service lines around the patient’s experience in the delivery of care, focus on the quality of care given, physician outreach programs, and patient to physician communication. Ultimately, health care providers receiving feedback from the services offered and feedback on how the services provided are will help to find improvements.

Peer 3: Strategy and structure are two factors that work together to make things happen and become possible. In my opinion, the strategy should come first because a strategy is all about being direct such as value-adding strategies. A value-adding strategy is about being direct towards what a company wants to accomplish that includes adaptive, market entry/exit, competitive and service delivery strategies (Ginter, Duncan & Swayne, 2018, pg.360).

A strategy is mainly about reaching a specific goal and also a position of an advantage over adversaries or other competitors (Executive Consultancy Service, 2017). If a health care organization wanted to reach a goal, they had to create a strategy that would work and become beneficial not only to the organization but also to their consumers. For example, a strategic plan had to be created when a company wanted to achieve a goal, whether it be big or small. Also, if an organization wanted to reach a goal, they need to utilize different strategies to reach their ideal destination. Also, another approach that would be beneficial for an organization would be anticipating the needs and wants of the organization’s current customers/consumers and seeing where they lack as a whole. The analyzation will help the organization understand what they can do to improve its overall quality.

Structure, however, is what organizations utilize what is necessary to bring everything together expertly. The structure should be the first factor that should come first in an organization because it creates different boundaries of what the organization will need to comply to reach its short-term or long-term goal. By doing so, the structure will maintain an organized strategy and increase coordination and communication within strategies itself (Ginter et al., 2018, pg.371). The structure can outweigh approach because to achieve a specific goal, there needs to be some form of structure to sustain its ability to succeed. For example, if a company wants to make financial changes, they need to implement a structure that would benefit them entirely but also assure them that they have everything under control and is being taken care of regardless of the amount of money being spent.

Peer 4: Strategy and structure are two independent elements in business that are somewhat co-dependent. The strategy – which is created often – determines the structural elements associated with the business. Some businesses also use the inverse and shape strategy, which is based on structure. Combining these forces effectively leads to a cohesive business model that functions to achieve common goals (Lazzari, 2019).

An organization usually creates a strategy first, which outlines it’s business objectives. From there the structure must be created to reflect that of the strategy. The success of these strategies may be dependent on the effectiveness of the organization’s culture, structure, or strategic resources (Ginter, Duncan, and Swayne, 2018). For example, if an organization wants to offer a low-cost product on the market, the organization must invest in the most efficient production processes to achieve this goal. For this, to achieving the business structure must be structurally designed to reflect the low-price strategy. A good example of this is Spirit Airlines – the business strategy is to be a low-cost carrier, and the structure was created in the airplane design (no reclining seat/no leg room), and what is offered to the customer.

On the other hand, with the recent economic landscape has been characterized by high environmental uncertainty and rapid change, this thought process has been challenged, placing structure first and then strategy follows and there are organizations that develop their strategy based on the structure of the company.
