For this assignment, create a responsibility matrix for the WAG expansion project that you have just been hired as an Assistant Project Manager. You will be using the RACI matrix design that you learned about in this module to assign responsibilities.

As you might remember, the project is for an expansion of the shoe line that WAG has in the United Kingdom, which includes a new factory and artisan workshop. Some of the key stakeholders are:

Clive Edwards – CEO of WAG, who oversees all of the operations in both the US and the UK and is the project sponsor
Cecil Moneypenny – Factory Manager in the UK, who will oversee the plant operations in the UK
Kingston Bryce – Factory Manager in the US, who will oversee the plant operations in the US
Include yourself as the Assistant Project Manager
Greg Hasselbach – CFO for WAG
Kaplan Thunderbird – Commercial Real Estate Agent in the UK
Some of the key tasks of the project include:

Location selection in the UK
Equipment selection for the new factory
Hiring employees in the UK
Mapping processes from the US factory to the new UK factory
Mapping all of the tasks for the project
There may be some additional tasks that need to be added. Use your imagination and include them in your matrix.

Wow! Five Chapters in two weeks can be overwhelming. Remember our goal is to become acquainted with Project Management, the steps in the PM process and by way of the course project to practice a few of the steps in the PM process. As such, any facts you deem necessary to address that process step are certainly yours to make as our focus is on the PM process steps, not the individual facts. From project to project, the facts will change but the steps will remain the same.

From a theory and big picture perspective, Project Management is not complicated. It is simply a process in which the professional PM attacks a project the same way each time. The facts change the process stays the same. In Mod 2 we move from Step One in the PM five step process to Step Two, which is “Planning”. Remember, Step One was Initiating.

This week we will focus on how a project team is assembled and managed and in how we distribute and manage responsibilities.

3.) The live classroom and follow-up question.

Module 02 Course Project – Identify Business Requirements Scoring Rubric:

Grading Criteria:

1. Microsoft PowerPoint slide presentation identifies business requirements. A business requirement is not a technical requirement. That is, a business requirement is high level and is something that management wants from us (The What – Ex. Report showing all sales personnel not meeting monthly sales quotas). In contrast, a technical requirement is low-level (The How ? shows the details of how we give it to management ? use a computer query (Ex. Structured Query Language ? SQL) that pulls all sales personnel not making monthly sales quota amount) and puts it into a report delivered to management. ? 50 pts

2. Powerpoint Slide notes include how business requirements are important to the final business requirement deliverable ? 25 pts.

3. PowerPoint Slides determine several parameters of the project scope (Ex. All Sales personnel in the US) ? 20 pts.

4. PowerPoint meets minimum slide requirement (1-2 slides) ? 5 pts.
