Prompt: Select the organization you would like to analyze in part two of the final project using the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s EDGAR database. OR you can use the financial statements found on your organizations website. That is ok as well. The Edgar database has changed this spring, making it a little more difficult to find your information. Bu that is ok- your organization is required to post annual budgets showing income and expenses. As long as you can find the information and it is a health care based institution, you may use that institution! Ok the organization below used in examples is purely fictional at this time.
APA format Times New Roman, 12 font, double spaced, headings, subheadings, header with running head and page number, cover page and reference page.
In your proposal, address the following elements:
• Introduction!!!! Catchy beginning statement, state what the paper will discuss
•What organization is the focus of your report? See if your info is on EDGAR, financial statements may be on the organization’s website. Describe/summarize your organization and use the website to cite the material. For example: blah, blah, blah [can add non or for profit status here-see *] (Myers Animal Hospital and Sanctuary, 2016). Or: According to the Myers Animal Hospital & Sanctuary (MAHS) (2016) blah….and summarize what the organization does. You may use the mission/vision and use the website as your in-text citation. Mission and Vision statements are ok to use as direct quotes. The page number would be the “page” its on. For example: The Mission of MAHS (2016) is to “provide appropriate level of medical care and rehabilitation in order for wildlife to recover and return to the wild” (p. About).
•Analyze the organization by identifying the sub-industry or type of organization it belongs to (e.g., home care, hospital) and the financial background of the organization. Analysis: an analytical evaluation of the organization with specific and concise details. Analysis should contain the selected organization, sub-industry and financial background. For example: MAHS (2016) industry is the recovery and rehabilitation of wildlife. Describe what this is. The subindustry is wildlife animal control, wildlife animal education and wildlife animal welfare. Then describe what the subindustry does. Do not list or use bullet points. Use the website and your book or other sources to cite this material.
•Based upon the information you researched in Module Two, is the organization you selected a nonprofit or for-profit? Define which one your organization is profit or non-profit. You may add this to the 1st paragraph when describing/writing out your organization. For example: MAHS (2016) is a non-profit organization that….*
•Finally, considering the sub-industry your organization belongs to, what kind of impact do the economic principles of demand and market/consumer behavior have on this organization’s financial statements? For example, do the statements reflect a spike on revenue during the winter due to increased injuries and accidents related to ice?
• Demand Theory
o Define Demand Theory concisely- no direct quotes
o Apply the demand theory to your organization
o Reflect how this is shown in the financial statements
• Market Behavior
o Explain market behavior- no direct quotes
o State how market behavior impacts the organization throughout the year; ie; special fundraising campaigns, etc.
o Explain the relationship between market behavior and financial impacts to your organization. A well-developed example can help show the “nuances” of this relationship
• Conclusion- no new material, simply restate what was said
