According to Hefferon & Boniwell (2011), positive psychology concentrates on wellbeing, happiness, personal strengths, wisdom, creativity, imagination, and characteristics of encouraging groups and institutions that will provide an improved and successful individual that will be capable of motivating others because they have modified their life.As each generation has endeavored to make improvements and things better for the next generation there have been some issues that have been exaggerated further than intended. Baby Boomers (1946-1964) brought in the “me” generation, self-righteous and self-centered attitudes, etc. It was good for the time some notable changes came about, and some consciousness was formulated to reform the world for the betterment for all people.Carl brought out some things that were good when he talked about “when a child is told to get over their feelings.” The question is who is listening and assisting the child to cope with his feelings? Who is nurturing the child to preparing for the different stages of his or her life? When that child, in turn, becomes an adult what has he/she developed to cultivate others.Disorders have become so relevant that sometimes it is too late to help those who need it. For example, an African American young man about 13 years ago jumped out of a second-floor window trying to kill himself but was unsuccessful. I found out that last weekend he made another attempt again, but he jumped from the third floor and died. In spite of the family listening to Pastor Clay (deceased), doctors, and many others to encourage him to see a psychologist or counselor that ignored the advice and this is the results.
