You should read in advance one of the articles linked below, as well as annotate and highlight it as you have learned to do this semester. You should prepare by studying the chapters on reading for the conversation in They Say, I Say, the section on reading in your Norton Little Seagull handbook, and your Rhetoric and Reading presentation. This asks you to use templates for writing you have learned in chapters 1-7 of They Say, I Say.

1. Retype the 1-3 sentences in the article you think best illustrate the authors claim/argument. Then, write 1-2 sentences explaining why you think those sentences best represent the authors thesis.
2. Using the templates you have learned in chapters 1-3, summarize the 2-3 most important pieces of evidence (data, examples, anecdotes, expert testimony, analysis, primary and secondary research, etc.) the author uses to support his or her thesis/claim.
3. Using the templates you have learned in Chapters 1-7, give two examples where the author is in conversation with and/or responding to the work of others using direct quotes from the article.
4. In 1-3 sentences, retype/restate the authors conclusions. Then, provide your justification for why you think those sentences best represent the authors conclusions.
5. Using the templates you have learned in Chapters 4-7, state your own position in response to the authors thesis/claim using at least two specific examples or passages from the text to which you are responding.
6. BONUS QUESTION (Worth up to 5 points):
Using your handbook, type the citation for the article you chose in MLA format.
