There are three steps to having boundaries and that is creating them, stating them and maintaining them. Through creating boundaries we are able to think about things we want to change in our lives or relationships. By then stating the boundary it gives us something to follow and go back to. The hardest part of creating a boundary is usually following through with it. Through my meditation I felt the boundaries I created in my meditation through questioning. For example, in the video we watched for class the woman asks why are we creating this boundary? What are we getting from it? I often found myself asking these questions. Another major factor in meditation is being present. Personally sometimes I find it difficult to be fully present as it is hard to block out things that may be going on in our lives. I think I have more success following boundaries I set rather than staying present. As stated before I think this is because I often find it difficult to just block things out. One of the major takeaways I have learned is that setting boundaries and being present allows you to get a full meditation experience. This is because you are able to fully focus in the moment and center yourself with the present.  After identifying that being full present was a boundary I was hitting I decided to do some research to see if I could break the barrier. I found a website called headspace that showed me activities such as a body scan that allows you to acknowledge how you are feeling and moving forward with it (How to be more present. Headspace., 2021). I also discovered an article that referred to meditation as a form of mental training that requires calming of the mind (Saeed, S. A, et. al., 2019). I also found it very interesting because the article went on to discuss the effects of meditation on anxiety, stress, and depression which I found really informative.
