I have become quieter within the last three months because the rat race has gotten to me. I think if you are a quiet person who doesn’t speak a lot and like your quiet time than being in a monasticism would be fine. I think without the excess stimulation, distractions, and ever-increasing crowds, it would help to reduce any anxiety level. I think it would remove remove mental clutter. Less stress and increased rest would contribute to good mental health. I think there is something to be said about not having worries about the responsibilities of the materialism world we live in. Not living to impress someone who won’t make a difference in your life is freeing.
This is an especially a good option for someone who doesn’t have a family to be able to feel connected and have a community.

I like the idea of Monasticism. I don’t know that I could definitively nor objectively say it is either good or bad for a religious group, but I find it to be a beautiful thing. I think the commitment and sacrifice required of those who seek the monastic life demonstrates their deep connection to a higher calling, to their intense faith. Monasticism allows those who seek that life to entirely dedicate themselves to the understanding and deepening of their relationship to God—that is, they have given their lives completely to Him. It removes the temptations and distractions of the world and allows for full immersion in their faith. In terms of its impact to a particular religion, I could see it being a way to preserve traditions within the faith. Those who practice a monastic life become so well-versed in their religion’s teachings that they can be educators and examples for those who seek that faith.
