2. How would you define inclusive language? What is an example? How could you use inclusive language in your mock job interview? Why is it beneficial to use inclusive language in a job interview?

3. In your upcoming mock job interview, is there anything that you might share about yourself or your prior work experience that may be hard for the interviewer(s) to grasp? How could you use  elucidating, quasi-scientific, and/or  transformative explanations to make it more clear for them? Please provide an example for each.

4. What is something you learned from the readings that will be most beneficial in helping you solidify a clear and concise goal for a speech in this course and beyond? What is a thesis statement? What should be included in it? What should not be included in it?

5. You will practice interview skills in your next speech. It will be important to keep your answers clear and concise. How do you plan to narrow your “topic” (or the information you plan to share) for each question you are asked?

1. Your book mentions noise as a key factor in communication models. How do these models relate to public speaking? Think about the last speech or presentation you gave. This could be in a class, during a meeting at work, or in front of a large audience. What type of noise did you experience? What type of noise do you think your audience experienced? What might you do in the future to minimize noise?

2. Do you experience communication apprehension? In what way? What are you most nervous about in this class? What is the self-fulfilling prophecy? How can you experience this in a negative way? What can you do to shift this to have a positive effect?

3. Plagiarism can take many forms. In your own words, how would you define each of the different types of plagiarism outlined in your book? How do you plan to avoid plagiarizing in this class?

4. What ethical responsibilities do you have as a speaker? What is one way you can avoid self-serving messages in presentations? Why is it important to take this into consideration?

5. How would you define civility? Describe a time when you witnessed someone display civility, either during a conversation or presentation. How might you demonstrate civility in a public speaking setting when the audience does not agree with your message?

4. What type of reasoning fallacy have you experienced either as a speaker or as an audience member? Please explain the situation and your reasoning for identifying it as the fallacy that you did.

5. In your opinion what should a good visual aid do? What does it look like? How might you include visual citations on a PowerPoint slide?
