The title of the article I choose is “After Breonna Taylor’s Death, Feds Find Police Discrimination”; By: Dylan Lovan (2023). In the article, Mr. Lovan discussed how reports made by the Louisville Police department through the Attorney General that Louisville Metro Police department violated her constitutional rights and discriminated against the black community.
Some background on the Breonna Taylors altercation is that she was a black female paramedic in Louisville, Kentucky, while she was home minding her business after a long shift. Louisville Police had a no-knock warrant, but at the time, they did not know they had the wrong apartment, so they entered, and, in the process, Breonna was shot and killed.
From the article's description of the report from the attorney general Louisville Police Department “discriminates against black people in its enforcement activities”, the article also states that with invalid warrants, excessive force is used (Lovan, 2023b). Another fact, according to the article is how unnecessary pressure voids the trust of the community.
This situation especially speaks to racial discrimination throughout the world because, all times too often, people of color are mistreated or misjudged. I think if officers in this situation were to ask questions versus reacting, she and many other people would still be alive today. We tend to see that people fear what they do not know or understand. “Thus, people who lack contact with others who are different will be afraid of the other, which will translate into differential treatment” (Segal et al., 2019).
While human rights are under attack, affirmative action is needed to ensure equal treatment and rights. In order to create a more just society, we have to provide equal rights and opportunities throughout. Situations like these can be controlled if officers take a minute and ask questions; even though sometimes that can be potentially dangerous, it can often help to de-escalate issues.

2. The article I have chosen is racial inequality in the United States. It is about changing the racial and ethnic composition of the U.S population. the legacies of structural racism continue to hamper economic growth. some economic policies that would directly benefit Americans of all races and ethnicities have been undermined by zero-sum arguments that play to fears that one group will benefit at the expense of another. This situation is an example of discrimination because as stated, “Racial inequality in the United States today is rooted in longstanding behaviors, beliefs, and public and private policies that resulted in the appropriation of the physical, financial, labor, and other resources of non-white people (U.S department of the Treasury, 2022).” People were being treated differently in their workplace, or when applying to certain jobs based on their race, sexuality, and gender. “Define discrimination as an unfair treatment that occurs among individuals or individuals based on their identity (Segal E, 2019).”
