Starting his career off as a Unit Safety Representative Nellis Air Force Base, Sgt THE SEL was certified as a safety inspector by the United States Air Force Warfare Center and conducted twelve inspections identifying corrective actions for forty lock-out and tag-out programs which garnered a Best Practice designation by the Air Combat Command Safety Program Management Evaluation Team. The distinctive accomplishments of Sgt THE SEL reflect credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Oct 2007 – Dec 2009

Luke Air Force Base Technical Sg. THE SEL distinguished himself by meritorious service as Non-commissioned Officer in Charge of Education and Training, Wing Safety, 56th Fighter Wing, Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. During this period, Sgt THE SEL developed a safety website for sharing safety and mishap prevention information, making a one-stop shop for supervisors. He implemented numerous community-based initiatives reducing mishaps by 40 percent. He developed the safety plan for the "July 4th Freedom Works" fireworks display and the "Operation Safe Summer" Campaign, which led to Luke's first fatality-free year since 2002. As a trainer, Sgt THE SEL provided training on safety inspection techniques that reduced inspection time in the units by 20 percent. He created an innovative local conditions briefing educating all newly assigned Luke members and increasing their safety awareness. United Arab Emirates -Technical Sgt THE SEL distinguished himself by outstanding service as Ground Safety Manager, 380th Air Expeditionary Wing, Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates. During this period, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Combined Joint Task Force Hom of Africa and Operation NEW DAWN, he was absolutely critical in the wing's transition from an expeditionary to an enduring mindset. During this period, two Air Forces Central Command assessments, his programs received numerous outstanding ratings and were ranked the best of nine bases command wide. Additionally, he was recognized as an outstanding performer by both the Commander and Vice Commander of Air Forces Central Command. Sgt THE SEL identified and corrected multiple safety shortfalls in wing operations by developing and implementing four essential programs as lock-out tag-out, hazardous material control, confined space and traffic safety. His aggressive involvement in all phases of infrastructure development on the flight line also ensured the efficient execution and expansion of the wing's operational missions. Furthermore, he proactively addressed unique deployed safety challenges by creating both an off base driver training program which reduced mishaps by 41 percent and a pre-rest and recuperation briefing which was benchmarked by the Director of Safety for Air Forces Central Command. Finally, Sgt THE SEL was the Air Forces Central Command nominee for both the Air Force Safety Career Professional of the Year Award and the Chief of Staff Individual Safety Award, recognizing him as the best safety manager in the command.

Jan – May 2012

Technical Sgt THE SEL distinguished himself by meritorious service as Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of Ground Safety, Office of Safety, 11th Wing, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. During this period, Sgt THE SEL's initiative was vital to the modernization of the section's outdated safety discrepancy tracking process, which produced a logging rate of 100% for the first time in wing history. Additionally, he overhauled the Joint Base Andrews Job Safety Training Guide template to ensure safety compliance standards were consistently met or exceeded by 6 wings and 50 tenant units. Furthermore, as lead safety inspector during the 2011 Joint Service Open House, he guaranteed the safety of 195,000 spectators, correcting four safety hazards and culminating a three-day, mishap-free event. Finally, Sgt THE SEL's superior knowledge and leadership were critical to preparation for the 2011 Wing Compliance Inspection. During the inspection, he quickly corrected seven safety discrepancies on the spot and was coined by the Air Force Inspection Agency inspector.

June 2013 – Dec 2013

Sgt distinguished himself by outstanding achievement as Ground Safety Manager, 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait. During this period, Sgt THE SEL energized the base ground safety program while investigating 442 events and initiating 226 work orders significantly enhancing the safety of the installation and the strength of its safety culture. He reduced the occurrence of eye injuries by amending the Air Forces Central Command deployment reporting instructions to require issue of more effective eye protection. Sgt THE SEL also created commander and unit safety representative inspection checklists as well as a benchmark fall protection training program. These exceptional initiatives were adopted by Air Forces Central Command and are now used throughout the area of responsibility. In addition, Sgt THE SEL identified significant shortcomings with aerial port Highline Dock maintenance and upkeep programs. His findings resulted in the distribution of proper documentation, training and resources to 17 Air Mobility Command locations around the world, thus mitigating future mishaps. Sgt THE SEL was also appointed as the Single Investigating Officer for an off loading mishap when a pallet fell from a piece of aerospace ground equipment. His actions resulted in repairs to equipment and the arrestment of dangerous unloading techniques, preventing future incidents Air Force wide. The distinctive accomplishments of Sgt THE SEL reflect credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

May 2012 – July 2014

Sgt THE SEL distinguished himself in the performance of outstanding service to the United States as Wing Ground Safety Manager, 432 Wing/432d Air Expeditionary Wing, Creech Air Force Base, Nevada. During this period, Sgt THE SEL directed forty-two unit safety representatives and ensured the safety for three groups and thirteen squadrons, totaling more than 2,500 Air Force personnel, resulting in a zero Class A and B ground mishap rate for fiscal year 2013. His keen and instinctive safety sense provided oversight on twenty-one base projects and 232 work orders, resulting in the implementation of 54 million dollars in safety improvements to base infrastructure. Additionally, Sgt THE SEL's leadership was instrumental to the 432d Wing Safety office's 2013 Air Combat Command Program Management Evaluation "Excellent" rating and his personal selection as a "Superior Performer" during that evaluation. Finally, his tireless efforts were critical to the 432d Wing Safety office's selection for Air Combat Command's Chief of Safety Special Achievement Award and the 12th Air Force Safety Office of the Year for fiscal year 2013.

July 2014 – July 2017

Senior Sgt THE SEL distinguished himself in the performance of outstanding service to the United States as Occupational Safety Manager 48th Fighter Wing, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England. Additionally, as the wing’s Occupational Safety Manager, Sgt THE SEL was charged to protect 12,000 personnel across 23 units, and 80 aircraft valued at four billion dollars. His risk-based safety strategy slashed the wing's mishap rate by an astounding 21 percent and culminated in his team receiving the 2015 United States Air Forces in Europe Ground Safety Award. Furthermore, Sgt THE SEL was selected to lead a team of five subject matter experts for a Career Field Utilization and Training Workshop. His knowledge and guidance led to the identification of critical curriculum shortfalls and the validation of 482 tasks. Finally, for his commitment to the Airmen and mission, Sgt THE SEL was recognized as the command’s Safety Special Achievement Award recipient and the Wing Staff’s Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year for 2015.

Sgt THE SEL distinguished himself by outstanding achievement as Safety Investigation Board President, Headquarters, United States Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa. During this period, Sgt THE SEL investigated the causes and contributing factors of the 22 August 2017, Class-B mishap that resulted in $1.6 million dollars of damage to three MQ-9s, two MQ-1Cs, and associated base infrastructure at Chabelley Air Field, Djibouti. His expertise was vital in identifying five causal factors, and three human factors that directly contributed to the damage of vital Air Combat Command, Air Force Special Operations Command, United States Army, and United States Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa assets. Additionally, he identified nine non-factors for safety consideration and six Air Force-level recommendations centered on protecting Joint Forces personnel and preserving critical combat capability. Finally, his detailed and concise reporting directly shaped the panel's recommendations to the Deputy Commander, United States Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa, the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, and the Air Force Civil Engineering Center.

August 2017 – June 2019

Senior Sgt THE SEL distinguished himself in the performance of outstanding service to the United States as Safety Superintendent, 48th Fighter Wing, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England. During this period, Sgt THE SEL spearheaded the Chief of Staff of the Air Force operational safety review where he penned the wing commanders strategic messaging, developed the concept of operations for twenty six squadrons, and enabled over 2,000 data points for Air Force senior leaders. Under his leadership, the Safety office was continually recognized as the United States Air Force benchmark. This was evident when they garnered the United States Air Forces Europe first-ever Commanders Trophy, the Air Force Special Achievement Award, and drove the command to the Air Force Will L. Tubbs Award for outstanding achievements in Safety.

July 2019 July 2023

THE SEL distinguished himself in the performance of outstanding service to the United States as MAJCOM Functional Manager, Safety Directorate, Headquarters, Air Education Training Command, Joint Base San Antonio Randolph, Texas. During this period, Chief THE SEL led 102 personnel at 16 wings in the execution of the First Command’s safety program, where his team ensured the safety of 64 thousand personnel, 216 thousand Guardian and Airmen graduates and protected one thousand five hundred aircraft. Additionally, his leadership was paramount in the creation of the worldwide pandemic virtual safety education response plan enabling 103 Airmen to receive training across eight formal courses. Chief THE SEL worked tirelessly with multiple stakeholders to transform the Second Air Force core responsibilities ensuring that risk management and safety oversight was a foundational training objective throughout the Department of the Air Force.

Chief transitioned safety deployments to AFFORGEN. He aligned 128 safety positions across

the MAJCOM with the new phases, and ensured an equitable distribution and alignment with each

geographic region, posturing the safety staffs at 25 wings to fill Secretary of the Air Force taskings worldwide to fill key shortfalls at deployed locations.

Chief THE SEL leveraged excess manpower to move a SNCO safety position to the Air Force Personnel

Center to streamline safety assignments for the 1S0 career field. He also compiled safety budget

information from across the command into the first-ever safety-specific budget submission, enabling DAF Safety to garner $2 million for AETC safety in FY24.
