TikTok’s current business strategy is to leverage sophisticated algorithms to provide curated content to individual users. TikTok uses this curated content to drive targeted advertising and in-app purchases via TikTok shop to drive revenue growth (Business Model Toolbox, n.d.).
TitTok’s strength lies in the current market appeal, especially among younger users, effective algorithm creation that effectively influences trends and purchasing patterns. Weaknesses include high amount of similar business models, lack of longer length content, poor public perception due especially from older audiences and security-minded individuals. Opportunities include TikTok’s current addition of an in-app marketplace, and utilization of AI to further enhance algorithm based curation. TikTok would have to use contingency planning to counteract unexpected events or incidents such as damage of loss of servers that provide services.
