#InHouseDiscussions (worth 4 point each [up to 20 points total]): For these assignments I would ask that you find an article (academic journal, news, personal interview, video, etc.) that pertains directly to the class readings (and/or lectures up to that point) due for that class period. Think of this is a shared ‘current events’ type of assignment. What we are interested in is content that currently reflects the field of study for this particular course. A total of 5 of our class periods will consist of us discussing your findings for half of the class period. Voluntarily, students will be encouraged to share their findings with the rest of the class and field questions as they arise during that time.

Logistics wise, please write a half page single-spaced summary of the chosen article, why it speaks to our course content to date, and a link to your chosen piece. #InHouseDiscussion’s are simply Pass/Fail. Either you do them or you don’t. They must be turned in as a (one page) hard copy to Jeremy at the end of the class period the day they are due. Please don’t forget to add your name and date at the top. Furthermore, late #InHouseDiscussion write-ups will not be accepted under any circumstances shy of a doctor’s note or an academic accommodation. Emailing the assignment will not be accepted as well; hard copies only.
