You will now take a field trip in the city of Miami to find evidence of Classical Greece right there. Before anything, read about the particular importance of the Greek Order which is presented by Professor Jeffrey Howe Becker. Review this site before beginning the search. What to do:

Step 1.  After viewing the web sites listed above, take a good look at the city of Miami and find something that derives from Classical Greece. The legacies of Classical Greece can be found both in the physical world as well as in the cultural institutions.

Here are some hints of where you might look:
Architecture (banks, public buildings, homes)
Monuments (cemeteries, war memorials)
Cultural institutions (museums, theaters)
You could use one of the following web sites to look at the legacy of Classical Greece in Washington, DC:

Dr. J’s Illustrated Pericles’ Funeral Oration and America, written by Prof. Janice Siegel of Illinois State University.

Part 2. Once you have found a Classical Greek legacy from the city of Miami (or from some place like the capital of the United States), write a one page paper with substantial description of it. Included in the paper must be a description of one of the orders of columns located. Every city and town has columns! Including a picture of the type of column located is a must.
