1. The first service seminole state offers is the career development center. This is critical to college students because it gives us a chance to experience and found out the right kind of work for us. You can make an appointment with a counselor who can go over multiple things with you such as a career match. They can also give you resources to conduct your own research and can recommend you to such activities and opportunities such as job fairs and internships that could change your life. They will also go over with your you educational needs and responsibilities you should fulfill for these careers. You may need a specialization in your degree or a different type of schooling. They will also show you what steps or experiences you need to be relevant and qualified for that job field. After that you guys should make an action plan on how you will get their that includes a time frame.
2. The second service is what most students already know about in the academic success center, every campus has it. It is a free tutoring opportunity that helps students in math, writing, and science that also provides a computer lab. The tutors consist of peer tutors or tutors that still attend seminole state, paraprofessional tutors who have atleast an associates degree, and instructional support specialist who have at least a bachelors degree. Some of your specialized professors even have tutors that can help you sometimes in more specific areas of study. You dont have to make an appointment, all you have to do is walk into the ASC during its working hours, talk to the real instructors after signing in and then you can ask for any kind of help they can offer you. Also if you want more practice they will even provide practice tests and handouts with helpful information. They will even help you with your homework in a way so you will understand what you’re doing. The ASC is a free tutoring that SS provides to provide the learning opportunities every student deserves.
