• For this paper I would like you to find a current event, or news-story, or recent law that is being debated, or new technology that is being developed, etc. that would be related to the field of Bio-Ethics or Medical Ethics.  This field of Ethics ranges from the beginning of life to the end, with medical ethics in the middle. 
    • So, for example, you can analyze Reproductive Technologies, or recent abortions laws, or cases of medical ethics that arise often in the news, or laws like the one in California recently that allows for “Death with Dignity” for those terminally ill, or any other event or current issue that you find important. 
  • Find a story that you think is interesting and controversial to analyze and then offer a solution to how you think the case, or issue, would best be resolved. 
  • I have provided an Intro paragraph for you in the prompt that you can use for the paper, and an outline that you can follow to compose your analysis. 
  • Paper will be due on October 13th by 11:59 pm.

  • Paper: The purpose of this paper is to analyze a Contemporary Moral Issue and to offer a solution on how best to resolve/solve it. Find a topic, news story (local, national, or global), issue, or event related to the filed of Bio-Ethics (from beginning of life until the end, including the field of Medical Ethics and Genetic Engineering) that would be considered ethically problematic or controversial. Explain the issue, then explain why this issue is ethically problematic. Next, describe the differing viewpoints that different groups may have in response to this issue and then justify a position you think is best to resolve, or solve, this particular issue. Use ideas and concepts related to our study Meta-Ethics, Ethical Theory, and the Practical Ethics studyof Bio and Medical Ethics as part of your justification.
  • IMPORTANT: Topic must be concrete, particular, and specific rather than abstract & general.
  • Length requirement is 900 1100 words, 12 pt font, 1 margins; provide Word Count at end.

The purpose of this paper is to provide an ethical analysis of a current event that may be considered ethically problematic. In order to accomplish this goal I will proceed in three steps. First I will describe the event/situation and then explain why I think this event would be considered ethically problematic. Second, I will review the varying positions that might be held in response to the issue. Finally, I will provide a response that I believe would be the best at resolving the issue by applying ideas and concepts from one or more Ethical Theories.

  • Describe the event/situation and then explain why you think this event/issue would be considered ethically problematic. Be sure to be specific as to what ethical issues would be connected to the case you have described.
