You are hired as an office manager for a small business called E-Pets; the store sells robotic pets and toys.

The store is opening in 1 week and the owner, Peter, wants you to create a flyer (a Word document) to inform and attract customers. It will be sent out to the local community residents inviting them to the grand opening.

Peter also wants you to create an Excel file that he can use to keep track of the sales statistics.

Peter is counting on you to create a presentation in PowerPoint that can be used for advertising across the country

 

Section 1: Word Document

Use Word to create a professional looking advertising flyer to inform customers about the grand opening of the E-Pets store.

Steps:

  1. Create a new Word document.
  2. Save the file as AdvertisementLetter_docx.
  3. Apply the Metropolitan theme to the entire Word document. If you do not have Metropolitan, apply the Integral Theme.
  4. Create Level 1 heading for the flyer Title.
  5. The flyer should include information about the Grand Opening specials that the store is running.
    1. A list of at least 5 e-pets/toys that are on sale should be placed in a table with a style and effect of your choice applied.
    2. Add Level 2 heading for the table Title.
    3. The amount of discounts on selected items is your choice (e.g. 20-50% off the select titles).
    4. The Sales price (Original Price – Original Price*discount%)
    5. Use font formatting to emphasize the date, time, and the store location.
  6. Insert at least 2 images related to the items on sale.
    1. Apply the “behind text” text wrapping to the images.
    2. Add one more picture effect of your choosing.
  7. Resize the flier so all information stays on one page.
  8. Add a Page border and change the page color to Green (in Colors), Accent 6, Lighter 80% (Page Color).
  9. Customize the margins to 0.7 inches.
  10. Re-save the file.

Section 2: Microsoft Excel

Use Excel to create a Workbook, composed of two Worksheets, which the E-Pets storeowner can use to track the success of sales promotions. It should collect information to identify the items sold at a discount (Sales) and a chart (Charts).

Steps:

  1. Name the first worksheet Sales.
  2. Assign blue color to the tab Sales.
  3. At the top of the worksheet add E-Pets Store Grand Opening
  4. Insert an appropriate image next to the title.
  5. Below the Title, create a table with column headers for the following items:
    1. Item Name
    2. Regular Retail Price
    3. Discount Percentage
    4. Promotional Price (use an appropriate formula to calculate it)
    5. Quantity Sold
    6. Total Sales for each item (use an appropriate formula to calculate it)
  6. Add at least 5 items to the list – use the ones you listed in the Word document.
  7. Add a Total Row.
    1. Calculate the Total Items of Quantity Sold.
    2. Calculate the Grand Total of Sales.
    3. Calculate the average sales price.
  8. Apply Conditional Formatting to indicate, with a unique cell shading and font color, the sales price above average.
  9. In a cell below the table enter a CountIF formula to calculate the number of items, which promotional price was higher than the average price.
  10. Create a Style 7 Pie Chart to show the Total Sales of items.
    1. Move the chart to a new worksheet, name it Charts.
  11. Assign a red color to the Chart Sheet Tab.
  12. Add your name to the right Header.
  13. Add current time to the left footer and current date to the right footer.
  14. Save the file as E-Pets_xlsx

Section 3. PowerPoint

Now Peter also wants you to set up a marketing campaign.  The presentation tool will be MS PowerPoint

  1. Name the PowerPoint "e-pets.pptx".
  2. You will have between 5-10 Slides
    1. Each Slide will have a transition
    2. Each Slide will have an animation
    3. Each slide will have a picture
    4. You will use WordArt on at least one slide
    5. You will  use at least one Chart
    6. You will use the Notes section to describe each slide.
    7. You will use Slide Numbers for each slide
  3. The SlideShow will demonstrate your mastery of PowerPoint.  It will be attractive, and will not use one of the preset templates.  You must design your own template.

Submit all 3 files (AdvertisementLetter_StudentName.docx, E-Pets_StudentName.xlsx, E-Pets_StudentName.pptx) into Canvas for grading

PART 2
