The being habits are the first set of practices we want to intentionally devise that will be foundational to a sustainable servant leadership framework.
Servant Leadership Portfolio #3 is about you creating your own plan centering around these 5 habits. You have the freedom to use PowerPoint or Prezi in order to make your presentation.
Be sure to include each of these 5 steps:
1. Name: Name & explanation of each being habit as discussed by Blanchard, et. al.
2. Define: How do you define or understand each of these habits based on the learning in this and other units so far?
3. Choose: Chose one of the being habits that you would like to practice over a period of 5 days.
4. Experiment & Evaluate: Practice that habit for 5 days. Explain what you specifically did, the plan you came up with, the challenges you encountered, what it was like to start the habit, how long you did it, what time of the day, where, etc…As you do this for 5 days, keep a journal each day to record your thinking and reactions. Then reflect about that experience…What did you learn from this experiment? What did you learn about yourself? What felt important or helpful? What was not helpful? How might leadership and this habit be connected?
5. Moving forward: Explain what you might do to develop one or more of the being habits in your life? How might you measure growth or success? Also include any further questions you have about being or doing habits and their connection to shaping the lives of servant leaders.
Include any forms of media you like (video, images, songs, etc…dont forget to reference
them!). Be creative. Let it reflect your honest assessment of where you are now and where
you want to go in terms of developing some healthy leadership habits.
