DishWashNoMore Corporation (DWNM Corp.)
DWNM began manufacturing dishes that do not require washing after use. These dishes can be place under a bright artificial light or in the sun and they are then clean.
DWNM has 1000 employees in Troy, Mi. 75 of these work in shipping. Dishes are shipped via UPS, FedEx, USPS and via Amazon logistics who ships them to Amazon locations for online orders.
DWNM cannot make or ship these unique dishes fast enough to keep up with demand. Pallets of these dishes are kept in the loading warehouse to get ready for transport. The pallets are stacked to the ceiling and are hard to move to the trucks. These pallets are also in danger of falling over due to careless stacking and over stacking. In addition, the loading and shipping docks are congested and dangerous because of the high demand. Shipping cannot keep up with the orders and there is congestion and traffic in this area. The loading and shipping docks are connected to the employee parking lot, making the lot a hazard because of the large trucks coming and going.
A policy of Ship-no-matter what has been established by the VP of production. Other managers are concerned about the policy since quality procedures have not been used based on this directive. (Could this be a connection to the shipping congestion?)
Health and safety of employees is a primary concern and one of the overarching HR policies of DWNM. The company wants to go public in 2021 and also wants to double its annual sales and increase profits by 25%. They want to launch a media campaign by the end of the year, just in time for the holidays.
DWNM as a standard operating procedure for the shipping area written by the VP of Production, director of Quality Assurance and Director of HR. It was written years before the production of these unique dishes.
