In order to achieve ideal healthcare outcomes, eliminate potential errors and failures, and acknowledge contributing outcomes, diverse professional healthcare providers should get together to practice collaborative care (Swanson et al., 2020). Therefore, in order for nurses to practice their profession with limited supervision, they need to collaborate with physician organizations. This is because the changing nature of healthcare services requires nurses to take up more roles than ever before. One advantage of collaboration between doctors and nurses is to give and ensure quality patient care. Thus, combined efforts between physicians and nurses make it easier to provide patients with the care they deserve. Secondly, nurses who work with physician organizations improve patient safety measures as the collaboration reduces the risk of medical errors (Swanson et al., 2020). When patients receive quality care and patient safety, they are likely to have positive health outcomes.

           Another advantage of collaboration with physician organizations is that nurses get help from physicians in cases of complex situations. Not only do they get help in complex situations, but they also receive support in other ways, such as in policy influence. Physician organizations make it easier for nurses’ proposed policy changes to be considered by policymakers since they show collaboration and support evidence that the change will be good for healthcare service delivery (Swanson et al., 2020). Lastly, collaboration with physicians helps enhance healthcare team collaboration. The delivery of quality and timely care for any patient requires different health professionals to collaborate so as to provide the best interventions that meet the health needs of diverse patient populations. 

One of the major downsides of collaborating with physician organizations is conflict of interest. Nurses may have a suggestion that the physician organizations are not willing to support because of their own interests, and in that case, they may not support the ideas that nurses have. Thus, limiting the autonomy of nurses and their will to make decisions (Cheng et al., 2021). Another disadvantage is that the physician organizations or nurses may be resistant to change, thus, making the collaboration difficult due to differing ideas each time. Sometimes teamwork is about compromising so as to have the best results. When there is no compromise, then collaboration will be difficult, and tensions between nurses and physician organizations may be experienced (Cheng et al., 2021). The collaboration may require more resources which is another disadvantage. Physician organizations may want to reskill nurses or engage them in some training, they will need resources. If the resources are unavailable, the training may not happen, and nurses will not be as efficient as they ought to be (Swanson et al., 2020). Lastly, time is a limiting factor that could also disadvantage collaboration. When some decisions take longer to be made, some complexities can occur within the two teams and affect their association.
