Background:
Pineda calls you into her office. PolicyPulse is putting together a report on interest groups that are likely to lobby for political issues to be distributed to state legislators. She asks you, and other junior analysts, to prepare a no more than 3-page, double-spaced essay on an interest group of your choosing, being sure to answer all the questions listed below. This will ensure the legislators receive the same information for each interest group covered in the report. Pineda reminds you that proper grammar and spelling are required as are in-text citations and a full and complete references page in APA style. As with all products produced by PolicyPulse, all sources should be good, academic, and reputable sources; this includes the interest group’s website to provide general information. This means that most websites (Wikipedia, answers.com, and similar websites) are disqualified. If you cannot identify an author and date that is a good sign that the sources need to be carefully evaluated and, most likely, not used. 3. Explain what type the interest group falls under based on the information outlined in the reading. Ensure you explain why the interest group falls under the selected type.
4. Provide an overview of tactics the group uses to influence political issues. Provide specific examples (news articles are a good source for this requirement).
5. Discuss an interest group that would be considered a “counter” interest group (e.g., their beliefs are counter to the group you selected).
6. Is one group covered by the media more than the other? Explain your answer.
7. If one group is covered more by the media than the other explain why you think this happens.
8. Discuss which group you think is more effect and why.
9. Include at least three references/sources
