Academic writing is not about sounding clever; rather, it is about being informed, logical, clear, well structured, and basing your information on evidence. Your academic voice is defined by taking ownership of your work by writing in a style that comes from within. Refrain from copying the style or voice of someone else.
Paragraphs need to contain one idea that holds a common theme. Sentences should relate to each other with one sentence explaining the basic claim of that paragraph. Transitions between paragraphs should be seamless. Your reader should get the sense of moving to a new view on your topic when you have clear and informative transitions. Each paragraph should transition to the next and your reader should be able to track your main idea from the first sentence of your first paragraph to the last sentence of your paper.
You should use evidence to support your arguments in your paper. Simply put, evidence is the examples, sources, and/or facts used to support your argument.
The results section should circle back to the introduction to relate the information you have gathered and connect it with the information in your introduction. Is this connection between the results and introduction sections clear?
