The concept of a “healthy work environment” is not a new one. In 2005, Dr. Cecilia Grindel, President of the American Academy of Medical Surgical Nurses, described the nine components of a healthy work environment, which were identified by the 2004 Nursing Organization Alliance (a consortium of nursing organizations).
For this Blog, you will consider how you might evaluate yourself against these nine components. How are you currently contributing to a healthy work environment? As a point-of-care DNP leader, what more can you do to contribute to a more robust healthy work environment?
To prepare:
• Review the nine components of a healthy work environment in the Grindel resources, which are located in the Learning Resources.
• Consider how you contribute to a healthy work environment, using these nine components.
