This video discussion invites you to explore which nursing philosopher or theorist resonates most deeply with your personal values and emerging professional identity, then engage with peers to examine how philosophical frameworks connect to contemporary nursing practice and public perception.

Your peer described a nursing philosophy rooted in specific values and ideals. Now consider how nursing is portrayed in television or film. Identify a specific nurse character from a TV show or movie and reflect on the image of nursing presented — consider factors like dress, professional behavior, intelligence, autonomy, and relationships with other healthcare providers. How does that portrayal compare to nursing as it exists today, and to the professional values reflected in your peer’s philosophy post? How do media portrayals shape public perception of nurses, for better or worse?
