Abstract
The abstract (150-200 words) is structured by subheadings to include Introduction, Research
Methodology, Results and Discussion, and Conclusions and Further Recommendations.
Introduction
The introduction section contextualizes the topic of the review and explains its significance. It
discusses the need for assessing the topic and the relevance and importance of the topic to the
reader. It also identifies the general research question or problem statement underlying the
review.

b. Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria: (1-page) Specifies selection rules, including which sources were
included in the review.
c. Data Analysis: (1-page) Explains how data were extracted from the sources and describes how
results from the studies were handled and combined. Explains the process for how the sources
were analyzed, whether quantitatively or qualitatively, with a justification of the analytic
methods and their appropriateness.
Results and Discussion
The results and discussion section characterizes the body of literature included in the review and
offers a synthesis of the findings.
a. Characterization of the Body of Literature: (2 pages) This section describes the attributes of
the literature included in the review (i.e., number of sources included, number of sources
excluded, types of journals, methods used, quality of the resources)
b. Findings Synthesis: (4- pages) This section offers a thematic analysis of the findings. It ends
with an overall summary of the findings.

b. Conclusions and Contributions to the Professions of Nursing: 1-page
c. Recommendations: 1 page
